VIRTUAL TOUR OF THE PHLEGRAEAN FIELDS |
THE PHLEGRAEAN FIELDS
It is a fascinating area, owing to its various and plesant landscape and to the numerous now extinct craters, with whose dormant volcanic activity, however, the phenomenon of bradyseism and the hot spring are connected. This very fertile and sunny land, with a mild climate and natural sheltered ports, was inhabited by primitive and mythical peoples. In fact, the origin of the name Phlegraean (burning) Fields is Greek and is justyfied by the volcanic activity so evident to the first Aegean sailors.
